NYMBO Update – April
Broxa Forest MBO
This type of event is the reason I organise and ride in NYMBO events. Tim Goffe had planned an excellent course with controls closely packed in a small area so that route choice was very important and everyone scored more points than usual. The weather has been really dry for the last month so, although it was slightly overcast, the tracks were as dry as I can remember having ridden on for months. Jens had drawn another excellent map so that we were in no doubt as to the detail needed to help with navigation or location of the controls. No controls were stolen and there were no reports of anyone riding on footpaths outside the forest. Thanks again to the helpers who make everything run smoothly and who had collected all of the controls in by 5.15.
Andrew Windrum chose an excellent route which took in all 30 controls although he needed 6 minutes over the time limit. Dave Evans won M50 and finished 3rd overall with 441 points (and beat all of the M40's). Competition in the Mixed classes is going to be tough this year with Dennis & Sheila and Steve & Andrea all scoring 400 points.
The results are on the web page but in a different format due to a new programme that Dave & Sue are using. Please let me know if you are happy with the layout or would prefer the former style.
Sean Cowlam lost his wedding ring somewhere during his 2 hour ride. He would obviously be very relieved to get it back so if you did find a ring please let me know.
The summer Lanequest events start next month as well the National Championships at Gilling Woods and Duncombe Park. This is a 2 day event with prizes for the leading riders but, as usual, you are welcome to ride in either or both days. There is also camping available at Redcar House all weekend. Details on the events page and summary below.
On Saturday the format will be an MTBO event. There are 30 controls which have to be visited in the correct order. Andrew Windrum expects the leading riders to take about 90 minutes. I would like your opinion as to how far the older and younger riders should ride. My thoughts are
M21 W21 X21 M40 W40 X40 M50 - all 30 controls
W50 X50 M60 Y18 - 20 controls
GEN Y14 W60 X60 - 15 controls
NC - 60 minute limit - First 15 controls in any order
