NYMBO Update
Cropton Forest
Thanks to Andy Parsons (and his family) for planning an excellent course. He ensured that all of the controls were on decent tracks and the optimum route was never a long muddy push. Thanks to you for turning up even though the weather was as autumnal as we have come to expect this year. Thanks again to the helpers for making the event run smoothly, especially the control collectors who got everything in before dark; and to Jens for drawing yet another excellent map. Spiers House made an excellent event centre with forest road parking, a shop, plenty of toilets and, even, showers.
Most riders naturally stayed on forest roads as much as possible and there was a fairly even split in which way riders went round the forest. However, the anti-clockwise option meant a tough climb for the fitter riders when they left the Hartoft valley so most riders went round clockwise. The main skill was deciding which controls to leave out so that you could get to as many of the higher value controls as possible.
Nick Harmer had to score well to overhaul Andrew Windrum in the league and his winning score of 476 meant that he only left out 3 controls – some ride although he was still 7 points short of Andrew's total for the season!! Wayne Nicholson took advantage of Andy Conn's absence to win M40 with the third highest score of the day and finish second to him in the league. John Dixon had his best ride of the year to win M50 with the fifth best total but John Galway did enough to gain the M50 title ahead of John Galway. Mandy Faint was again the highest scoring solo female rider on the day and all season. David Day had the same success in M60. The best way for mixed teams at Cropton seemed to be by tandem with Hazel & Andy Stanforth outscoring all of the other pairs. Dennis & Sheila had their least memorable ride of the season but outscored all other pairs over the season. Will & Sam Wilson won at Cropton but couldn't catch Patrick & Oliver Piggott. 2 juniors rode but unfortunately there was no Youth Champion prize as no one had competed in more that 2 events.
NYMBO League 2008
As it was the final event of the year, prizes donated by WESTBROOK CYCLES and T shirts from Wicked Stitching were awarded to the leading riders after John Dixon had sorted out the final positions.
Congratulations the 2008 NYMBO League Champions

These events wouldn't happen without the willing help of so many volunteers so I am going to name and thank them here. (I am just the co-ordinator). Apologies if I have missed anyone out.
