NYMBO Update
Dalby Forest MBO
Thanks to Dave Evans and Bob MacDonald for planning a challenging course in the best mountain biking forest in England. It is so good there will hopefully be 2 events here next year. There was plenty of route choice and the tracks were drier than they have been for months so the memories of Langdale can now fade into the background. There was no chance of anyone clearing up so the decision at the start was crucial. John Galway got it right this month to win overall by going north and east. Karen Clark used her orienteering skills to beat all of the other solo women – and her husband!! It was encouraging to see so many junior riders in the Generation, Youth and Non-competitive categories.
Thanks to the helpers for making the event run smoothly. Jens drew another excellent map and surveyed all of the newly constructed single track routes.
John Dixon has updated the league positions and writes……
The M21 class is neck and neck with Andrew Windrum and Nick Harmer vying for top honours .
Andy Conn has a better score than both the youngsters leading the league and his class by a long way. Wayne should come 2nd and there is a battle for 3rd between Mike Naylor and Mark Grange.
Emily Brooks, Mandy Faint and Mary Carrick are clear leaders in their classes although Anne Plant could sneak past Mary if she scores well in the final two events. Karen Blackburn has the best ladies score overall but no competitors in her class.
M50 looks to be going to John Galway after his excellent ride at Dalby, pushing John Rawden into second. Third place could go to any one of three riders, John Dixon is just holding off challenges from Dave Evans and Steve Willis.
M60 looks sorted with Dave Day well ahead of John Tiffany and another big gap to Geoff Moorhouse in 3 rd . The Youth class looks set for a tight finish as Zac and Jake Field hold off Kate and Tim Robinson. Just 2 points difference although both have only entered one event out of nine and two events to go.
The final 2 events are on the web pages so hopefully we will see you again before the end of the season.
If not, the Winter Lanequests will be starting in December with 3 events based on friendly North Yorkshire pubs. Details on the web page as soon as the dates have been approved.
